WHAT IT MEANS TO BE ETHICAL. 

In the social climate we find ourselves in today it is becoming more and more apparent that collectively we need to further educate ourselves on where the products we buy are coming from, how they are made, where they are made, who is making them and in what conditions they are being made in. To be Australian made is one thing but to be ethically made in Australia is another story. For a product to be ethically manufactured there needs to be specific requirements and legal obligations that need to be adhered to by a manufacturer. Things such as working conditions, proper payment, contact hours, equal opportunity, anti discrimination, workers compensation and workplace health and safety.

These guidelines and requirements are governed by Ethical Clothing Australia. It is becoming apparent that there are fewer and fewer manufacturers in Australia, and fewer more ECA ( Ethical Clothing Australia) Approved. Australian Stitch exclusively works with ECA approved factories to manufacture our garments. We care about not just the quality of basics that Australians wear, but how they are made and the conditions that they are made in.
